Federal Tax Credits Available for Energy Upgrades
Homeowners and contractors, have you heard about the federal tax credit available for home improvements? Upgrade the energy efficiency of your home and receive a credit for 30% of product costs, up to $1,500 total per household. In order to qualify:
- Products must be installed between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.
- Products must be installed in the taxpayer's primary residence.
- Products must be installed in an existing home. New construction does not qualify for the same tax credits.
DeVries Building Supply carries several qualifying products including insulation, windows, doors, skylights, storm windows and doors, and reflective asphalt or metal roofing. Ask us about the following suppliers to learn more about eligible products: UltraTouch Cotton Insulation, windows and doors from Andersen, Farley, Mercury Excelum, and Windsor, asphalt shingles from Certainteed, and metal roofing from ABC or Wheeling Corrugating.
